Consider it sold.

Trust me. I get it. When it comes to selling on your own, the prospect of pocketing more money is strong. However, take a peek at the following stats. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

FSBO? IDK

Before getting my real estate license, I bought and sold on my own. I was an active member of the FSBO club and found a lot of success. However, I wish a REALTORĀ® would have shared the following facts with me.

I'm sure I left money on the table when I was selling homes without the pricing guidance, access to sales history, robust buyer network and marketing power of a professional real estate agent.

Selling a home isn't for the faint of heart. There are plenty of ways that a deal could go awry. A few of which include a failed inspection, an appraisal that falls short, unknown title defects and more.

There's also the stress of sharing accurate and appropriate information about taxes, condition disclosures and so forth. And what about showings?!

If that's not enough to make you rethink a FSBO, keep scrolling to see a handful of FSBO facts.

FSBO Facts

The National Association of Realtors conducts an annual survey about home buyers and sellers. Their report, "Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers" includes stats on For Sale By Owner (FSBO) sellers. You may be surprised at their findings.

  • Family or friend.

Half of the FSBO sellers knew their buyer. Who do you know? And do you know if they are ready, willing and able to buy? Agents have a deep buyer bench.

  • Real money.

FSBO homes sold at a median of $225,000 in 2021, agent-assisted homes sold at a median of $345,000. Even with commissions paid, you may make more.

  • Majority rules.

There's a reason why only 10% of recent home sales were FSBO in 2021. Scratch that, there are lots of reasons. Want to hear them? Click here to schedule a chat!

Expert for hire.

"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional, wait until you hire an amateur." Sage advice from Red Adair. While it can be tough to swallow the 6% pill to list with a REALTORĀ®, remember that agent-listed homes typically sell for 8 times that commission cost.
